Fishing in the home state...

Our friend John Wood landed this nice hybrid from Lake Allatoona.
Sometimes you don't have to go far from home to have a great day fishing!

Talk about a great day at sea! This TRIPLE TALE ends with a delicious TRIPLETAIL!

Our good friend Greg Esslinger and his teenager son Davis recently ventured to St. George Island, Florida and came back with this amazing TRIPLE TALE of their fishing adventures!

TALE 1
The first tale begins with Greg and Davis on a boat-- Greg with his favorite fly rod and Davis with spin. It barely takes an hour before Davis hooks and lands this 85 lb strong, fighting tarpon!

WHOA!! This 85 lb HUMONGOUS fish was putting up a fight for our 86 lb fisherman--
pretty even fight other than the boat, rod, reel, line and hook!
Good work reeling in this one, Davis!
SCORE:
Fishermen-- 1, Fish-- 0
Spin--1, Fly rod-- 0

TALE 2
Davis steals the show (or should we say FISH) again in this our second tale, landing this 20 lb black drum just TWO CASTS after the guide told him, "you can try, but they're really hard to catch."

Wow-- try, try and you REALLY CAN SUCCEED!
Score (BLACK DRUM roll please....)
Fishermen-- 2, Fish-- 0
Spin--2, Fly rod-- 0

TALE 3
It's Dad's turn to show the fish who's boss, so with his trusty fly rod Greg hooks a monster 35 lb redfish that was actually hiding in the same school of black drum.  Take a look!

This beautiful redfish is extraordinarily large, and Greg tells us this is the
biggest he has ever seen OR caught!! Outstanding!!!
Score:
Fishermen-- 3, Fish-- 0
Spin--2, Fly rod-- 1

The triple tale ends with Greg and Davis catching a TRIPLETAIL (the picture below says it all!)!

According to Greg and Davis, the tripletail is the most delicious fish you will ever eat.
YUMMY-- game over 'till the next Esslinger fishing expedition!
We can't wait to hear about it!!

"Swamp"thing's fishy in Naples!

BNKJ's own award-winning fisherman Kevin Hendren took these stunning photos from his recent tip to Naples, Florida, where he had a great time with guide Captain Bob Marvin and friends fishing in the mangrove swamps!

Kevin lands a nice jack crevalle while fly-fishing

Beautiful Naples!

Rusty and Andria visit Key Largo and catch "largo" and "smallo" fish!

BNKJ friend Rusty Bramlett and his wife Andria enjoyed a wonderful day on the water about 16 miles out from Key Largo. Just a beautiful boat ride and perfect day for fishing!!

Rusty and Andria found a good weed line, and then a couple floating timbers. They could see the fish -- "largo" and "smallo" -- circling the timbers/weeds and managed to hook up on three large Mahi. One of those they were able to get into the boat after a tough 45 minute fight using a 20# line on a spinning reel!  Take a look--

At the end of the day, the fishing duo had caught about a dozen smaller fish, and kept seven of them. Fish sandwich anyone?

No seasickness on this smooth sailing trip!

Welcome first week of TROUT SEASON!

Tim Ramsey kicked off the first week of trout season on Soque River near Clarkesville, Georgia, and managed to catch several strikes on a wet fly using two BB size split shot with a dry fly indicator.
Here's a picture of a really nice 16 inch rainbow Tim netted!

So LONG fish!

This 41.5 inch long Northern Pike qualified
our good friend Matt Klidjian as a
MANITOBA MASTER ANGLER!
Well deserved, Master Matt!

Northern Pike are measured by length rather than weight, and the fish pictured here was caught in Lake Comorant, Manitoba, Canada (about a 10 hour drive north of Winnipeg) on a Phlueger Supreme Spinning Reel.

What a great trip and a great fighting fish!

SWEET GEORGIA BROWN!

The bite on the Chattahoochee was slow this past Saturday, but Rusty Bramlett managed to catch this brown trout beauty and enjoy a sunny day on the Hooch. Nice one, Rusty!

Am I at Burger King because this one's a WHOPPER!

Look at this unbelievable WHOPPER, and that's no blow-up fish, folks!

This is our good friend Brian Corbett with CCG Advisors, proudly holding his best catch yet-- a REAL LIFE 41 POUND PERMIT caught by Brian while vacationing in Everglades National Park with his two sons this month.

The Corbett men had an amazing fishing adventure and much success with their Islamoradian Captain during their trip. They caught Mangrove Snapper, caul tipple and even a beautiful Cobia who got swallowed whole by a 500 pound Gag Grouper!  The boys went to town on a huge school of Tarpon too, going 4-6 ( boys 2-2 each, Dad 0-2!).

Brian assures us that the Permit is going on his wall-- send us a pic of that too Brian!
