A very successful afternoon of fishing this winter...

Over winter break, our good friend Joe DeLisle had the pleasure of fishing with his two sons Henry and Sam on Florida's Rodman Reservoir near Ocala. In less than four hours they caught 40 (YES 40!!!-- THIS IS NOT A TYPO) largemouth bass on shiners, including a 10 pound, 8.5 pound, and several 7 pound fish!

Back on land they learned that they were not the only lucky ones that day, as one guide boasted that he caught over 100 fish that morning.

Very impressive DeLisle family, and thank you for sharing these amazing shots with us :).

Fishing at Oldfield Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina

With temperatures in the 70s and light winds, fishermen at Oldfield Club had a great opportunity to get out on the water this week and enjoy some fresh winter fishing!

Inshore, the redfish were chewing and Capt. Charlie Beadon led the fishermen guests to plenty of action aboard the Oldfield Club’s new Ranger 183 Ghost flats boat.  Given the ideal conditions, his anglers were treated to some great sight casting with both fly and spin tackle.

Oldfield Clubs’ own Captain Jason Dubose was able to get offshore for a number of days to take advantage of the fantastic bottom fishing activity this time of year offers.  His fellow fishermen caught red snapper, grouper, black sea bass, porgies, and jacks until their arms were sore!

Lowcountry certainly has some fine fishing opportunities so check it out if you have a chance!

Fishing in the Rain... (like the song?)

Pictures from a Lake Lanier fishing trip with BNKJ's own fearless leader Chris Clayton and buddies Joe Delisle and Don Bravaldo. Striper fishing in the rain... does it get any better than this?

Eight is Enough

Kevin here.  I went back to one of my favorite ponds this weekend for some more bluegill action.  I ended up catching forty-eight nice bluegills.  While I was fishing, a blue heron got very interested in the fish I was catching.  He stood about 30' from me for the next 2-3 hours. Whenever I caught a smaller gill (5" or so), I tossed it to him. He ended up eating EIGHT bluegill. I figured one or two would have filled him up, but boy was I wrong. After the last one, he just turned around and walked down the bank.  That was one well-fed heron!  Here are some pics:

A beautiful fall day ...

My seatbox, bait tray, and rod are ready for action!

Nice one!

The blue heron watches me reel in fish with great interest.

COOL morning on Lake Sinclair

Chris Clayton and Kevin Hendren braved the frigid morning temperatures to bag some carp on beautiful Lake Sinclair.  Here are some pics:

Chris shows the carp who's boss!

OK, guys.  Feel free to net me anytime now.

We take care of the carp!  That's an official "carp unhooking mat" he's lying on.

Chris shows off a nice 9-pounder.

Another tube trip

Kevin here.  I got out to one of my favorite ponds recently in my float tube and had a fun day with the bluegills.  Here's a pic of one of the biggest fish of the day:

It's not just the catching.

BNKJ Partner Jim Lahm shows that a shore lunch of fresh fish is hard to beat.  This picture was taken at the Marten River Lodge in Ontario on Jim's annual trip with client Harvey Watt.  Target fish are walleye and northern pike and were caught with live minnows fished on light spinning rigs.
