Fishing for Sailfish in the Florida Keys

Our good friend Tim Ramsey had the good fortune last month of fishing in Islamorada, a "Village of Islands" in Monroe County, Florida. He and his wife/fishing companion Betsy enjoyed the perfect weather for fishing in January in the Keys-- highs in the low 60s, mixed clouds and a pleasant breeze.

Betsy and Tim took some beautiful pictures which captured the magnificent views, red sunrises, mixed clouds, a little salt water spray and magic of the trip!

Beautiful catch! Sailfish are members of the
billfish family.  They typically are 5 to 11 feet,
weighing 120 to 220 pounds. They are distinguished from
the well known marlin by their full size dorsal fin
which runs nearly the length of their body.
They are not widely eaten and are not endangered
but make great game fish.

Happy New Year, and what better way to end 2012!!

Our buddy Brian Corbett with CCG Advisors recently went fishing with his 15 year old son Connor on NEW YEAR'S EVE and landed this beautiful over-limit 29 inch REDFISH. This is such a classic that we are showing this catch in BLACK AND WHITE!

This gorgeous fish was caught on board The Angler's Mark boat on the backwaters off the inter-coastal waterway of Amelia Island, Florida.

Captain Lawrence Piper guided the Corbett men well, encouraging Connor to use what those from Louisiana call a Cockaho minnow as bait. It worked, and Connor was able to hook that beauty and land the GREAT FISH by himself on a light tackle spinning rod!

MMMMM...... blackened redfish and champagne-- perfect for a New Year's Eve feast!

Happy New Year everybody-- can't wait to see what we all catch in 2013! Make it a big one and send us your best shots!

Hilton Head!

Recently, a group of BNKJ family and friends took at trip to beautiful Hilton Head in search of redfish and speckled trout.  Here are some pics!

Afternoon Delight

After a very busy October 15 deadline, BNKJ partner Howard Neiman and tax manager Kevin Hendren headed for a "secret" pond allegedly loaded with bass.  They took Howard's grandson Josh along for good luck.  Here are some pics!

"Cock a doodle doo" in Costa Rica!

Robert Charles recently enjoyed a wonderful fishing vacation in Costa Rica. He spent time on the Caribbean coast the first part of his trip for tarpon in big surf, then spent a few days at La Fortuna and Mount Arenal, followed by time on the Pacific targeting mostly ROOSTERFISH in a very big surf-- 8+ foot breakers!

Robert was able to get a 90 pound sailfish on his trip. What could be better than successful fishing and breathtaking views?  Here are some pics.

You don't need Photoshop for this one!

Talk about a BIG FISH!!

Just a few weeks ago in July, Brian Corbett of CCG Advisors, Robert Shelton, and Chris Church of Church Services were fishing off the coast of Biscayne, Florida when they caught three MASSIVE fish and then released them at the same time. The fish were hooked using live bait on spinning rods cast behind the boat at sailfish swimming inside the multiple lines being flown on kites. The fishermen were about five miles off the coast.

Take a look at this magnificent catch...

Brian, Robert and Chris proudly display their catch-- a 55 pound Sailfish --
which after no nibbles in the first four and a half hours of the five hour trip
just shows that patience is important in the world of fishing!
